Take a Break
Take intentional study breaks throughout the day. During those breaks, stretch, meditate, take a quick walk, or do breathing exercises. Don't forget to enjoy a snack (and drink plenty of water).
Manage Your Time
Outline your final exams, projects, and/or papers. Create a weekly schedule for the final few weeks and designate time each day to focus on studying, writing, and taking care of yourself with breaks, snacks, naps, and whatever else supports your good health.
Don't Get Distracted
Eliminate distractions by finding a conducive studying space, including silencing notifications on your phone and laptop and placing your phone out of reach.
Get some sleep!
Getting limited amounts of sleep can make it harder to retain information. The CDC recommends at least 7 hours per night for adults 18 - 60 years old.
Eat Consistently
Support your brain by eating consistently! Eat a variety of food groups throughout the day, have a meal or snack about 3-5 hours apart.
Stay hydrated
Being hydrated helps with maintaining focus and mental clarity. Set your water in a place you can see it while studying. Aim to drink a minimum of 64oz or 2L of water every day.
Use Campus Resources
Remember to utilize campus resources, teacher assistants (TAs), office hours, and tutoring sessions as needed. Attend any end-of-semester review sessions offered by the professor, TAs, or tutors.
Conduct & Honor Codes
Familiarize yourself with the Student Code of Conduct and the Honor Code. Be sure that all assignments are submitted in accordance with the instructions provided by your faculty and in line with Institute policies. (i.e., don’t submit previously used assignments, provide citations as required, etc.)
