GT Honor Advisory Council Office of Student Integrity Office of Commercialization ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY CONFERENCE

The Honor Advisory Council, a student organization committed to promoting integrity throughout the Georgia Institute of Technology community, has partnered with the Office of Student Integrity and the Office of Commercialization to host the Artificial Intelligence & Academic Integrity Conference 2023. 

This conference will provide an opportunity for students and faculty to discuss the effects of generative artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, on the educational experience.

Speakers and facilitators are scheduled to include Donald Beamer, Jr., ECON '05, the City of Atlanta’s first-ever senior tech advisor; Raghupathy Sivakumar, vice president of Commercialization at the Georgia Tech Office of Commercialization; and Kathy Baxter, BS Applied Psych '96 and MS Eng Psych '98, principal architect of Responsible AI & Tech at Salesforce.

Georgia Tech-affiliated panelists will include Christos Athanasiou, assistant professor, Aerospace Engineering; Luoluo Hong, vice president of Student Engagement and Well-Being; Laurence Jacobs, senior vice provost of Education and Learning; David Joyner, principal research associate at the College of Computing; and Wei Xu, assistant professor at the School of Interactive Computing.

Questions addressed will include: 

  • What is generative AI and what are some of the state-of-the-art achievements in this field? What detection tools and strategies (AI or otherwise) exist to identify AI-generated content?  
  • How can generative AI be used in the classroom to improve learning and prepare students for using AI in industry?  
  • How should generative AI be restricted in the classroom to maintain academic integrity and teach students about AI usage pitfalls in industry?

The campus community is encouraged to come to as many of the presentations as possible to experience the full range of these vital discussions, and to join the post-event reception on the CULC Rooftop Garden.
